AKINN 2.4: Kind Earth
The collection focuses on making sustainability sustainable, taking on a practical approach with an understanding that an all-or-nothing mindset is unattainable for most of us. It is not about grandiose attempts at making drastic lifestyle transformations but taking steps towards being aware, seeking education, and practicing mindfulness in our choices. Knowing that every bit makes a difference, and believing that our collective consciousness can and will make a difference.
This starts with small yet meaningful changes to our daily life. AKINN has always approached its pieces through the lens of low waste design and classic, timeless silhouettes instead of chasing seasons or trends. With this collection, this ethos extends further by utilizing a selection of earth-friendly nature-derived fabric and materials to amplify the need to appreciate our kind earth.
Designed in collaboration with fellow lover of our kind earth - Inch Chua, who lends a key inspiration for the collection through her single, ‘trees’. A powerful ode to nature, it relates to her personal experience during lockdown, and is her lament about finding comfort in nature surrounding us - taking refuge in the simple things around us, things we have taken for granted so often, to heal and grow.
Featuring 11 unique pieces, AKINN 2.4: Kind Earth takes practical steps in the direction of conscious consumption in style. Centred around earth-friendly fabrics like viscose, tencel and cotton; accompanied by shades that are an ode to all things natural - stimulated by the colour palette present in Mother Nature, and a sense of wonder for the world we live in - warm, summer hues that embrace you, mysterious seas and its glitter, dancing barefoot on the grass.
